Developed in collaboration with Foster + Partners Industrial Design, BEAM is a flexible shelving system that enables a wide range of spatial configurations across office, residential, and commercial environments. Crafted in wood, the collection explores materiality and craftsmanship.
BEAM’s refined design derives from the simple section of a structural beam. The collection draws inspiration from Foster + Partners’ architectural projects, particularly the Narbo Via Museum in Narbonne, which features long concrete beams supporting the roof, reinterpreting this architectural language at the scale of furniture.
BEAM includes freestanding shelving units, as well as ceiling- and wall-fixed systems, alongside sideboards and cabinets. The open shelving, available in different heights, creates a rhythm through a series of metal uprights. The adaptable system is offered in multiple level configurations, and individual units can be combined horizontally to form larger-scale compositions.
A range of accessories complements the shelving system, including a tray that integrates seamlessly into the shelf, bookends, a storage drawer, and a sliding textile divider panel. The bookends are sustainably produced using offcuts from the shelving manufacturing process, minimizing material waste.
Sustainability is a central principle across the collection, both in the manufacturing process and in the design concept itself. BEAM is designed for longevity, using FSC-certified wood sourced from responsibly managed forests and water-based stains that reduce environmental impact. In addition, the collection allows for efficient disassembly, facilitating repair, component replacement, and recycling at the end of its life cycle.
Manufactured in matte oak or ebonised oak, BEAM is available in a range of finishes, including lacquers, anodised metals, and textiles.
